Chitwan Tigers storms into final with emphatic win over Pokhara Rhinos



KATHMANDU: Chitwan Tigers defeated Pokhara Rhinos by nine wickets in the qualifier match of the Everest Premier League (EPL) played at TU Cricket Ground, Kirtipur on Wednesday. With today’s win, Chitwan Tigers will play the final on Saturday.

Chasing the  67-run target set by Pokhara Rhinos, Chitwan reached the target in 7.5 overs by losing only one wicket.

Earlier, invited to bat first after losing the toss, Pokhara  XI has set a target of the lowest total in EPL, 67-run to Chitwan Tigers. Pokhara was all-out in the 15 overs and could score only 66 runs.

Sagar Dhakal and Shahab Alam bowled brilliantly and Pokhara Rhinos were all out for 66 in the first qualifier of the Everest Premier League (EPL) T20 cricket.

Richard Levi contributed 19 runs for Pokhara.

Sunil Dhamala scored 18 runs while Susan Bhari added 12 runs.

Besides, the batsmen could not make double digits.

Sagar Dhakal and Shahav Alam took four wickets each for Chitwan. Sagar, who bowled four overs, conceded 14 runs. Shahav bowled four overs and conceded 10 runs.

Captain Sompal Kami and Karim Jannat took one wicket each for Chitwan. The team that wins today’s game will advance to the final.

The losing team will play the winning team in the playoffs.
