Six arrested from outside U.S. Embassy in Maharajgunj

KATHMANDU: Police have arrested six protesters from outside the United States Embassy in Maharajgunj Monday.

They were staging a protest against the U.S.-backed Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC) Compact outside the U.S. Embassy. According to police, they are affiliated to All Nepal National Free Students Union (Revolutionary) close to Mohan Baidya-led CPN-Moaist Revolutionary.

The arrested have been identified as student wing’s Chairman Hari Krishna Gajurel, General Secretary Peshal Dahal, Mahesh Shrestha, Min Prasad Giri, Laxman BK and Nawaraj Tiwari.

They have been kept at Metropolitan Police Circle, Kathmandu.
