Govt to procure firefighter helicopters soon



KATHMANDU: Alarmed at the destructive wildfires broken out in various parts of the country, the government has planned to buy firefighter helicopters for long-term fire control solutions.

According to Ministry of Forests and Environment sources, the government is planning to procure firefighter helicopters via Nepal Army.

“The cabinet has already granted approval to the plan and the procurement process is initiated,” the source said.

The government has planned to use the firefighter helicopters to use for fire control in April, May, June and July and for commercial purpose for the rest of the time.
