Actor Sagar Lamsal presented before authorities after arrest over rape allegation



KATHMANDU: Nepali actor Sagar Lamsal, who was arrested on allegations of rape, has been presented before authorities for further legal process.

Police said Lamsal, popularly known as “Bale,” was taken on Sunday from custody at the Kathmandu District Police Range to the government attorney’s office to seek permission from the court to extend his detention for investigation.

He was arrested on Saturday from his residence in Baluwa Khani, Kopan, Kathmandu.

The allegation was made by a woman currently living in the United States, who accused Lamsal of rape. The woman publicly shared the allegation through a Facebook post on Friday, claiming that the incident took place in the United States.

Chief of the Kathmandu District Police Range, Senior Superintendent of Police Ramesh Thapa, said Lamsal was arrested for investigation following the allegation.

According to the complainant, the alleged incident occurred about a year ago when Lamsal had travelled to the United States. She claimed that the incident took place at her apartment.
