KATHMANDU: Prime Minister KP Oli on Friday evening reached the residence of Nepal Communist Party (NCP) Vice Chairman and Coordinator of the Party Unity Campaign Bamdev Gautam.
Oli faction Parliamentary Party Deputy Leader Subash Nemwang, along with ministers and advisors, had reached Gautam’s residence in Bhainsepati to inquire about Gautam’s health condition.
Despite the family meeting, Oli discussed the latest political developments with Gautam.
Oli returned by giving an invitation to Gautam to attend Saturday’s parliamentary party meeting.
Despite Oli’s invitation to attend the parliamentary party meeting, National Assembly member Bamdev Gautam and his wife Amrita Thapa said they would not attend the meeting.
Both of them have not participated in the previous meeting convened by the Dahal-Nepal faction.
According to sources close to Gautam, even though Prime Minister Oli himself invited him to attend the meeting, Gautam and his wife said they would not attend the meeting.
“He has been campaigning for party unity since the dissolution of parliament. He has said he will not join any faction,” the source said.
As the House of Representatives convenes on Sunday, both sides are working hard to get a majority of lawmakers in their favor. In this connection, Oli reached Bhainsepati and met leader Gautam.
A meeting of Oli’s parliamentary party is being held at the Prime Minister’s official residence in Baluwatar at 3 pm.
The Dahal-Nepal faction of the NCP on Friday removed Prime Minister Oli from the post of parliamentary party leader and selected Pushpa Kamal Dahal.
