KATHMANDU: Coordinator of Bibeksheel Sajha Party (BSP) Milan Pandey has appealed to the leadership to be responsible and take initiatives to save the party by addressing the fissures seen in the party.
Issuing a press release Sunday, Pandey argued that the party should not deviate from the original path of alternative politics.
Stating that the party existed due to the hard work of thousands of party members, their hopes and expectations, Pandey thanked everyone for their invaluable contribution and personally apologized for the current situation in the party.
Expressing worry about the ideological difference seen in the party of late, Pandey wrote in the press release, “The difference of fundamental ideology among the top leaders of the party has made us anxious and ensued confusion. Likewise, the party’s statute, drafted unanimously by the legislation committee, is not presented in the Central Committee for five months. The party’s chair ‘change of course’ in his own language, contrary to the merger and other agreements.”
He also accused party Chair Rabindra Mishra of convening illegal meetings of the Central Committee and the Secretariat going against agreements reached in the past. He argued that the chair alone did not have the authority to summon meetings as per party’s rules, regulations and statute.
He wondered if activities that are happening within the party were leading to the demise of alternative and civilized politics. Stating Article 3.1 of the BSP statute states that the party would work to institutionalize federalism, he expressed displeasure at Chair Mishra for making public ‘change of course’.
He asked, “In this world, chairman of which party, under normal circumstances, speaks against the party’s policy and presents ‘personal’ views in contravention to party’s statute?” adding, “There is freedom but the right to violate the party’s constitution is not freedom. It is tyranny.”
Pandey said Mishra threatening party leaders who abide by party’s statute of taking action was ridiculous.
“Any activity in accordance to the party’s manifesto can never be a parallel activity. Parallel activity not working in accordance with the party’s manifesto and constitution. Yes, of course, those who do parallel activities should be punished. Those who go beyond the party’s line and make statements should be questioned. But, for that, it is important to understand who has done the parallel activity. It’s not hard to understand it now,” he said. He warned Mishra not to kill the essence of the merger of which common people were witnesses.
Stating that he is committed to statute and agreement, he urged party rank and file to strengthen the party by responsibly addressing the differences of thoughts in the party.
