Nepali Army provides weapons to Nepal Police

KATHMANDU: Nepali Army is set to provide 11,000 pieces of big and small weapons to Nepal Police as per the decision of the government.

Speaking at a program organized at the NA headquarters on Monday, Chief of Army Staff (CoAS) Purna Chandra Thapa handed over 300 pieces of weapons and their ammunitions to Inspector General of the Nepal Police Shailesh Thapa in the first phase today.

According to a notice issued by the Directorate of Public Relations and Information of Nepali Army, the Nepali Army has handed over the weapons in free of cost as per the cabinet decision taken on May 31, 2021.

The NA will provide 10,818 rifles and machine guns and their ammunitions (14, 94,016).

The remaining weapons will be handed over in the two phases in the next one year, said Nepal Army.
