JSP leader Mahato hints at party’s intent to lead new govt

KATHMANDU: Leader of Janata Samajwadi Party (JSP) Rajendra Mahato has hinted at his party’s intent to lead the new government at a time when the main opposition Nepali Congress is intensifying meetings for a new power-sharing.

Speaking with media recently, leader Mahato said the NC has not formally approached his party for a new power-sharing.

When asked whether JSP will join the bandwagon in case the NC files no confidence motion against Prime Minister KP Oli, he said the issue has not entered the parliament and added that his party will decide once the issue enters the parliament.

“JSP will decide once the issue of no confidence motion enters the parliament,” said Mahato, hinting at the possibility that the next government could also be formed under his party’s leadership.

Mahato further said the JSP will support the government which will fulfill the party’s demands.

JSP has been demanding the release of Resham Chaudhary, withdrawal of cases filed against its leaders and cadres during the Madhesh movement.
