Wild bear dies of electric shock

GAIGHAT: A wild bear has died due to electric shock in the Chure jungle of Katarai municipality in Udayapur district.

According to Hiralal Sharma, assistant forest officer of Division Forest Office, Tribeni, the wild bear died of electric shock transmitted to the land through a high-voltage transmission line stretching from Siraha to Katari on Monday.

Such incidents are quite frequent in the forest areas for lack of proper management of power in the forest areas, said Sharma.

The locals have also called for proactive role of the concerned bodies and Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) to immediately resolve such issues.
