“Jawad Cyclone” surging from Bay of Bengal; another weather system in Nepal from Sunday



KATHMANDU: A cyclone called “Jawad” formed in the mid-western part of the Bay of Bengal is gradually surging toward the coastal region of Odisha State of India on Saturday morning.

The newly formed cyclone is moving towards north-east part of India. However, the cyclone is not having significant impact on the weather system of Nepal, according to the Meteorological Forecasting Division (MFD).

Issuing a weather bulletin this morning, the MFD said the cyclone will case partly to generally cloudy weather in Province 1, 2 and Bagmati Province from Saturday night. Similarly, light rain and snowfall are expected in a few places of high hilly and mountainous regions of these provinces.

The impact of the cyclone will gradually recede from Monday, according to the Division.

Another low-pressure westerly weather system is having an impact on the weather system of Nepal starting Sunday.

Due to this impact, the weather will remain partly to fully cloudy in Sudurpashchim, Karnali Pradesh, Lumbini Pradesh and Gandaki Pradesh with chances of light rain and snowfall in high hilly and mountainous regions of these provinces.
