Nepal Police urges its personnel not to receive gifts during festival

KATHMANDU: Nepal Police Headquarters has issued a directive for police personnel against receiving donations and gifts given by various organizations and individuals during festivals on Monday.

The directive warns and reminds police personnel that they are not allowed to take gifts and benefits from service seekers pursuant to paragraph 3, clause 5.2 (b) of Simplified and Detailed Code of Conduct for Nepal Police, 2020.

The Secretariat of the Inspector General of Police has tried to aware all the police from disassociating themselves from transactions with people in relation to government work.

All the police have been requested not to do accept gifts as incidents of filing complaints were repeated in the past after police personnel tended to accept such offerings.

If police find them in a situation whereby they are compelled to receive gifts, then the directive urges to get prior approval from the Government of Nepal.
