Kathmandu Metropolitan Circle’s special campaign nabs 207 pickpockets and thieves



KATHMANDU:  Kathmandu Metropolitan Police Circle has launched a campaign to make the security system of the valley flawless, reliable, trustworthy and strong, to normalize the life of the people and to guarantee the full security of Nepalis to celebrate the great festival of Dashain-Tihar in Kathmandu.

As per the campaign launched in coordination with public vehicle entrepreneurs, the police will deploy staffs in informal dress in the public transport outside and inside the ring road, major shopping malls from September 10 to October 1 and nabbed 207 pickpockets and thieves.

“A total of 207 people have been arrested for stealing cash, mobile phones, jewelry from the pockets and bags of passengers traveling in buses and microbuses operated at various places,” the police informed.

The method used by pickpockets

In public buses, groups of up to 6 people enter the bus at the rate of 2/2 people from different bus pockets and find passengers with money.

Using sign language with each other when they are pickpocketing.
