Police nab five on charge of gang-rape in Itahari

SUNSARI: Police have arrested five people from Itahari on charges of gang-rape.

According to Inspector Keshav Katawal, the chief of Area Police Office Itahari, police arrested the allged on Sunday after receiving a written complaint from the victim that she had been raped by a group of six people.

The police said that four of the arrested were under 18 years of age and their names and addresses were not disclosed. One is still absconding.

The incident took place at 7 pm on October 1.

The victim, an inhabitant of Itahari Sub-Metropolis-8 was beaten by six men and taken to a nearby paddy field raped. The alleged have also looted two tolas of gold chain and Rs 3,000 in cash.

“Sunil Chaudhary alias Goman was arrested from his house at Itahari-14 last Saturday. Four others have been arrested after a search,” Inspector Katawal said.

The arrested and the victim have been taken to Inaruwa District Hospital for medical check-up.

All the arrested are being investigated by the district court under the Code of Criminal Procedure 2017 with an extension of five days.
