KATHMANDU: The Nepal government has decided to shut down all the international flight services staring Thursday midnight (April 6) except for Nepal-India flights.

Two flights a week between Kathmandu and Delhi will, however, remain operational.

A cabinet meeting held on Sunday took a decision to this effect in view of the increasing cases of the COVID-19. With this decision, the international flights will remain closed except two Kathmandu-Delhi flights until further notice.

Joint Secretary at the Minister of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation Tara Nath Adhikari, who is also the spokesperson for the ministry, informed that the government has shut down international flights until further notice.

“The decision to halt all the international flights will come into force from Thursday midnight,” said Adhikari, adding, “But two flights a week between Kathmandu and New Delhi will remain operational in view of emergency cases.”

All the domestic flights have been shut down from Monday midnight.
