Four arrested for looting Chinese national’s residence in Thamel



KATHMANDU: Police have arrested four persons from Thamel in Kathmandu for looting a Chinese national’s residence.

The robbery took place at the residence of Chinese national Yun Xiamen at Thamel in Kathmandu Metropolitan City-26 last Monday.

The Metropolitan Police Circle, Lainchaur, arrested four people on Friday and Saturday for their involvement in the looting.

Among the arrested are Phulkaji Tamang, 28, Amir Tamang, 24, of Kageshwari Manohara-6, Shivchowk, Kathmandu, Buddha Tamang, 28, and Roshan Lama, 28, of Gokarneshwor Municipality-3.

According to Kathmandu Metropolitan Police Spokesperson Superintendent of Police Ramesh Basnet, they looted the residence of Chinese national Xiamen at 9.30 pm on Monday.

Basnet said that they entered the room wearing a mask. After entering the house, they had taken Chinese national’s Xiamen, his wife Anjali Tamang, brothers-in-law Pravesh Tamang and Pasang Tamang under control and tied victims’ hands and feet with tape.

According to the victim, they stole Rs 2 million in cash, a ‘Tilahari worth Rs 28,680, two gold rings, two small gold earrings, and a large earring. Police have recovered Rs 792,500, 6,170 yuan, a ‘Tilahari’, two gold earrings, an earring, a gold ring, and a large gold earring from the arrested.

Police are conducting further investigation on them.
