KATHMANDU: Mathematics subject has been made compulsory in secondary level curriculum.

A meeting of the National Curriculum Development and Evaluation Council chaired by Minister for Education, Science and Technology Krishna Gopal Shrestha decided to make mathematics compulsory in Grade 11 and 12.

With this, students will now be able to choose Social Studies and Lifeskills Learning Education or Mathematics in Grade 11 and 12.

Huge disappointments and objections were surfaced in academia after mathematics was placed in the fourth group in the latest curriculum making it optional for students.
