Public should not be troubled from strike: PM Oli

KATHMANDU: Prime Minister KP Oli has said that the general strike called upon by Nepal Communist Party (NCP) Prachanda-Nepal faction for Thursday troubled people a lot.

Addressing the national gathering of the All Nepal Farmers’ Association in the capital today, the PM said the activists of the agitating faction made their protest successful by ‘throwing away the vegetables and tomatoes of the poor’.

PM Oli also said that people suffered massively but the top leaders of the Dahal-Nepal faction toured the city to witness people’s woes. “They come aggressively; attempt to break laws. They breach rules and laws. They threaten the Chief District Officer (CDO) and Superintendent of Police (SP). This is wrong. I want to urge them to abide by laws,” the PM said.

On the occasion, PM Oli said that the government was working seriously to resolve the problems of farmers.
Stating that the communist party is based on the foundation of the farmer’s movement, PM Oli, who is also the
Chairman of Nepal Communist Party, recalled that party activities were carried out by Farmers Federation and students when the party activities were banned.

Farmer’s movement was the pillar of change and this should act as a torchbearer for awakening and transformation, Oli added.

On the occasion, PM Oli said that the land plots should not be kept uncultivated.
