64 CCTV cameras installed along Araniko Highway



KATHMANDU: Sixty-four CCTV cameras have been installed at various places from Jadibuti Bridge to Sanga Chowk bordering Kavrepalanchok along the Araniko Highway.

Additional Inspector General of Police Hari Bahadur Pal, who is chief of the Metropolitan Police Office, Ranipokhari, inaugurated the installation amid a function on Friday. The inauguration was held in the premises of the Metropolitan Police Range, Bhaktapur.

On the occasion, AIG Pal said the installation of CCTV cameras would help reduce road accidents and crimes. “Bhaktapur police has done its good job. They have helped reduce corruption. There is a need to carry out reforms within the police,” he said.

Similarly, Chief District Officer in Bhaktapur Prem Prasad Bhattarai and Bhaktapur Chamber of Commerce and Industry’s President Pradip Shrestha expressed the hope that the installation of CCTV cameras would help investigate road accidents and crimes, and maintain peace.

The police have played an important role in helping to control COVID-19 and maintaining peace and security, stated chief of the Metropolitan Police Range, Bhaktapur, Tara Devi Thapa.

People from various walks of life donated over Rs 8 million for the project. Of the collected amounts, over Rs 6 million has been used to purchase and install the CCTV cameras. The remaining amount would be deposited in the bank to purchase and install more CCTV cameras at Chyamasingh and Kamalbinayak Bus Park, said treasurer of the committee, Nabin Prajapati. RSS
