Nepal Teachers’ Federation forms Kathmandu district committee for the first time



KATHMANDU: The Nepal Teachers’ Federation has formed its Kathmandu District Committee for the first time, unanimously electing Ganesh Prasad Guragain as its founding chairperson.

According to the federation, a 27-member district working committee was unanimously selected under Guragain’s leadership. He previously served as chairperson of the Kathmandu Metropolitan Committee of the Nepal National Teachers’ Organization.

Krishna Raj Kattel has been elected vice-chairperson, Basudev Khanal as vice-chairperson, Tara Adhikari as women vice-chairperson, Narayan Prasad Gautam as secretary, Samundra Timilsina as open joint secretary, Govinda Prasad Paudel as joint secretary (finance), Anita Adhikari as women joint secretary, and Diwas Babu Pokharel and Ram Hari Dhakal as institutional joint secretaries.

The committee members include Surya Bahadur Khadka, Chakra Bahadur Bista, Bhagawati Silwal, Sarita Kumari Prasain, Shravan Basnet, Tara Mishra, Sumitra Sigdel, Babita Sahi Thakuri, Dinesh Lama, Bharat Bhandari, Srijana Khadka Giri, Surya Kumar Upadhyay, Dilli Raj Gyawali, Binod Khanal, Sushila Khanal, Bir Ballabh Ghimire, and Tejendra Subedi.

The committee formation program was attended by federation Chairperson Laxmi Kishor Subedi, General Secretary Tula Bahadur Thapa, Nepal National Teachers’ Organization Chairperson Hans Bahadur Shahi, Nepal Teachers’ Organization Chairperson Somnath Giri, School Employees’ Council Chairperson Gangaram Tiwari, and other teacher leaders.
