13-year-old cancer patient appeals for his life

KATHMANDU: A 13-year-old boy who is a cancer patient from Adanchuli Rural Municipality-3 in Humla district is fighting for life and has appealed to people for help in his treatment.

The impoverished family of cancer patient Akhil Damai does not have the money needed for his treatment.

“I am terrified. I want to live. My father is unemployed. We are poor. My father cannot afford my treatment out of Jumla district without money,” moaned Akhil, a sixth-grader at a local school.

Akhil, who has throat cancer, has been admitted to the Karnali Academy of Health Sciences. The hospital has referred him to Chitwan or Kathmandu for advanced treatment. “However, we cannot afford even the ambulance fees without money,” said Akhil’s father, Jad.

“Doctors involved in my son’s treatment have said that approximately Rs 800,000 is required to save his life. But I wonder from where I can collect this whopping amount of money.”

One wishing to donate money for Akhil’s treatment can contact his father’s mobile number (9864905526) or can deposit donated money in the Global IME Bank account number belonging to his father (127104067841301).
