Nepal-Khanal faction declares two months drive for party re-organization

KATHMANDU: The Standing Committee (SC) meeting of Madhav Kumar Nepal and Jhala Nath Khanal faction of the CPN-UML has declared a two-month long campaign to expand and strengthen the party.

A SC meeting held in Kalanki on Saturday afternoon has concluded by declaring the two-month campaign. ‘Ensuring CPN-UML’s unity and protecting communist movement’ has been set as the slogan of the campaign.

Under the campaign proposed by SC member Bhim Acharaya, party committees will be formed at ward and municipal levels.

The faction has also urged Prime Minister KP Oli to accept party committees as on May 16, 2018, and facilitate in ensuring party unity.

The disgruntled faction has been regularly holding discussions concerning the faction’s future strategy.

The Nepal-Khanal faction has been accusing the party establishment led by PM and party Chair KP Oli of working against the nation, people and in violation of party statute.

The rift in the UML has widened with the two factions carrying out parallel activities.
