Prachanda-Nepal faction suspends eight leaders, including Nembang for 6 months

KATHMANDU: Nepal Communist Party (NCP) Prachanda-Nepal faction has taken action against eight leaders of the party.

A meeting of the central committee on Wednesday decided to suspend central members Subash Chandra Nemwang, Shanta Chaudhary, Bishal Bhattarai, Mahesh Basnet, Surya Thapa, Niru Pal, Prabhu Sah and Karna Thapa for six months.

According to NCP central member Bishnu Rijal, a standing committee meeting held at the party’s Paris Danda office on Wednesday took action against them for acting against the party’s conduct.

Likewise, the meeting has also decided to remove KP Oli from the post of parliamentary party leader, Subash Nemwang from the deputy leader and Shanta Chaudhary from the post of whip.

Earlier, the standing committee meeting had decided to take the agenda of changing the leader, deputy leader and whip of the parliamentary party to the central committee meeting.

After the dissolution of the House of Representatives by Prime Minister Oli on December 20, the Prachanda-Nepal faction decided to elect Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ as the leader of the parliamentary party.

However, after the Election Commission did not recognize the party’s decisions taken on December 20, it was decided to take the proposal to remove Oli from the leadership of the parliamentary party of the Prachanda-Nepal faction to the Central Committee meeting.
