SC row: Habeas corpus hearing affected

KATHMANDU: Disgruntled Supreme Court (SC) judges did not hear habeas corpus petitions on Tuesday.

The agitating judges, who sat on the bench on Monday for the hearing of the habeas corpus cases, did not go to the bench on Tuesday as they remained busy in internal discussions.

Chief Justice Cholendra Shamsher Rana had scheduled six hearings of the habeas corpus petitions.

The CJ had earlier told a three-member talk team formed by the judges that he was prepared for a dignified exit.

Rana, however, has scheduled writs related to banking offenses apart from that of habeas corpus today.

Out of six writs scheduled for today, four were related to banking offenses, according to the Supreme Court.

Chief Justice Rana has not included him in any benches after the agitating Justices denied sharing the bench with him.
