BAITADI: Unlike the past, schools here will not have a long holiday for the upcoming Dashain and Tihar festivals.

The Dogadakedar and Dilashani rural municipalities have decided to limit the number of holidays during the festivals.

Earlier, schools in both the rural municipalities used to remain closed for a month on the occasion of Bijaya Dashami and Tihar. But it will be different this year, as schools will remain open soon after Dashain.

According to Prayagraj Pant, acting chief administrative officer of Dogadakedar rural municipality, the schools will be closed only from the day of Fulpati on October 14 to October 17 and regular classes will resume from October 18.

Schools in Dilashani rural municipality will be closed from September 12 to September 17. The Dashain holidays have been shortened as regular learning and teaching activities were affected by the COVID-19 pandemic for a majority of the part of the current academic year.

The schools, which have been closed for a long time, came into operation last August following the health protocol. There are a total of 562 schools.

Of them, 24 are institutional and the rest are community schools, according to the Education Development and Coordination Unit. RSS
