Home Minister directs subordinate bodies for safety of people from natural disaster



KATHMANDU: Home Minister Balkrishna Khand has directed the representatives of subordinate bodies to pay heed to the safety of people affected by natural disasters.

The Home Minister has directed the Chief District Officers of Kaski, Tanahu, and Dang districts for maximum utilization of available resources for the safety of people. It may be noted that these three districts were hit by the recent incidences of monsoon-related disasters.

The Minister today had telephoned the CDOs of the three districts to take stock of the post-disaster situation there.

During the conversations, he urged the respective CDOs to actively get engaged in the rescue and loss-mitigation efforts.

The Home Minister took updates about losses caused by landslides following incessant rains in Kaski and Tanahu from CDOs Thaneshwor Gautam and Sagar Acharya.

As said by the Tanahu’s CDO, 12 families who were at risk due to a dry landslide at Manechauka of Bhanu municipality-11 have been shifted to a safer place. Construction of temporary huts for them is underway with the help of the Armed Police Force.

Similarly, Kaski CDO Gautam said three people were killed and one had gone missing in the incidents of landslides that occurred at Pokhara Metropolis 20 and 11.

Five injured were rescued and a search for the missing is underway.

Similarly, Dang’s CDO Ram Bahadur Kurumbang was briefed about the car accident that took place in Dang this morning.

In Dang, Bimala KC and Radha Kunwar of Ghorahi Sub metropolis-15 and Neetamaya Pun and Sushila Shrestha of Ghorahi-13 have died after the flooded Sisne River swept away a car (3-01-024 Cha 4440). RSS
