TULSIPUR: The Tulsipur Sub-Metropolitan City has come up with ‘Smart Daughter, Capable Women’ program in order to make daughters self-dependent.
According to Deputy Mayor Maya Acharya, the sub-metropolis is implementing the program to empower daughters and reduce child marriage.
She informed that all necessary arrangement has been made on Metropolis part.
“The concerned parents will be asked to open bank account soon after the birth of the daughter and the sub-metropolitan city will deposit Rs 200 in the account every month,” Deputy Acharya said, adding, “The unmarried daughter can withdraw the amount once they become 20 years old.”
The sub-metropolis has allocated two million rupees for the program.
Women right activist Radha Pandey believed that the program would help provide special respect and safety to daughters as well as to end discrimination between son and daughter, and to reduce child marriage.
Likewise, the sub-metropolitan city has given continuity to the Deputy-Mayor Women Safety Housing Program for treatment and rehabilitation of women facing gender-based violence this year and Rs 5 million has been allocated for the same.
The sub-metropolitan city has also given priority in its budget to the policy of declaring Tulsipur sub-metropolitan city street children and street human free city by making their proper rehabilitation. Arrangement of necessary budget has been made to run special program for the livelihood and socio- economic upliftment of marginalized community like Badi, Kumal and Chamar.
Meanwhile, the budget of Rs 339 billion presented by the sub-metropolitan city for coming fiscal year through ninth assembly has been passed unanimously.
