KATHMANDU: Government attorneys are pleading on the writ petition filed against the dissolution of the House of Representatives (HoR) on behalf of the President and Prime Minister today.

The five-member Constitutional Bench comprising Chief Justice Cholendra Shumsher Rana, Justices Meera Khadka, Ishwor Prasad Khatiwada, Dr. Ananda Mohan Bhattarai are hearing the writ which started Since June 23.

Out of 15 hours, only one and a half hours is remaining for the government attorneys to plead on behalf of the government.

A total of 10 lawyers including attorney general, former attorney generals have delivered their arguments so far.

The names of 13 lawyers are in the causelist for the pleading today. Of them, 10 minutes has allocated for three lawmakers and seven minutes for the remaining 10 lawyers.

Once they finish delivering their arguments, lawyers start pleading on behalf of the Speaker. Only one hour has been allotted to the lawyers pleading on behalf of the Speaker.

After the Speaker’s lawyers finish pleading, the advocates will present their arguments on behalf of 146 lawmakers. Three hours has been allocated for it.

The Constitutional Bench will also hear the advice from the Amicus curiae once the lawyers pleading on behalf of plaintiffs and defendants finish their arguments.

Two hours has been allocated for Amicus curiae. It will take some days to issue a final verdict on the writ petition, said the Supreme Court.
