Body of Swiss Everest climber airlifted to Kathmandu



KATHMANDU: The body of a Swiss national, who lost his life while returning from Everest expedition, has been airlifted to Kathmandu Wednesday.

The body of Swiss citizen Abdul Waraich was taken to Camp II of Everest and then to Lukla, from where a helicopter flew the corpse to Kathmandu.

Waraich died at the camp pitched at an altitude of 8,000 meters while returning after a successful Mt. Everest ascent. He was accompanied by 10 Sherpas on the way back.

His body will be handed over to his family through the embassy after postmortem.
