Govt committed to conserve Chure region

KATHMANDU: The government is committed to the protection and conservation of the Chure region and has urged all not to follow rumors around it, according to the Ministry of Finance.

The government will do its best to conserve the Chure region, the Ministry said in a statement issued on Wednesday by spokesperson Mahesh Acharya.

The statement comes in wake of criticism of the budget for the fiscal year, 2078/79 unveiled recently that allegedly allows extraction of river products.

“The Government of Nepal is committed to the protection and conservation of the Chure area,” reads the statement. “Necessary directives, standards, and legal provision would be made in this regard based on suggestions and advice given by concerned government sector, environmentalists, experts, and stakeholders.”
