NA Chair Timilsina meets UNHCR Representative Verma



KATHMANDU: National Assembly (NA) Chairman Ganesh Timilsina has met with United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) Representative in Nepal Carolin Spannuth Verma at the former’s office in Singha Durbar Friday.

At the meeting, NA Chair Timilsina thanked Verma for the work the UN Refugee Agency has been doing around the world. He also expressed gratitude to the UNHCR for rehabilitating Nepal-based 13,500 Bhutanese refugees in eight different countries.

Timilsina also appreciated the service of UNHCR during the COVID-19 pandemic in various refugee centers around the world.

On the occasion, Representative Verma also appreciated Nepal government’s role in refugee management. She was pleased by the fact that the government had provided refugees with same sort of facilities as enjoyed by Nepali citizens.
