KATHMANDU: A Standing Committee (SC) of the Nepal-Khanal faction of the ruling CPN-UML is taking place on Friday.
The SC meeting to be held at 11 am will dwell on the actions taken by the establishment against its four leaders and chalk out a strategy on how to move ahead in the days ahead.
The UML has suspended senior leader Madhav Nepal, Vice Chairman Bhim Rawal, Standing Committee Member Surendra Pandey, and Deputy General Secretary Ghanashyam Bhusal for six months.
They were suspended after their response to the clarification sought by the party was found unsatisfactory.
General Secretary Ishwar Pokharel had sought a clarification from Nepal, Rawal, Pandey and Bhusal in line with the decision of the central committee (CC) meeting convened on March 20.
On the other hand, the Nepal-Khanal faction is engaged in creating nationwide parallel structures of the party.
The disgruntled faction has already formed parallel committees of All Nepal Women Association (ANWA), All Nepal National Free Students Union (ANNFSU), Youth Association Nepal (YAN) among others.
Addressing a program organized in Kaski on Thursday, leader Nepal announced that the faction is also making preparations to form parallel structures in the central level.
Today’s SC meeting will chalk out strategies and launch further agitations in the days ahead, said a leader of the disgruntled faction.
