KATHMANDU: An excavator driver has buried a woman alive in Dhading district.
A 45-year-old Saraswati Kumal, a local of Tripurasundari-1, who was heading home carrying cattle fodders, was buried alive after being injured by the excavator.
Saraswati had fallen into a ditch after being struck by the dozer. Driver Bhim Bahadur Budhathoki buried her with the mud and stones apparently after presuming that she was dead after being injured, said District Police Office, Dhading.
The driver had fled the scene after passengers of a bus en-route to Arughat from Salyantar reacted to him burying the woman.
The workers retrieved the woman from the ditch. SP Mahendra Khadka said the woman has head injuries and been sent to a local primary health center for postmortem.
He said they have launched a manhunt to nab the driver and are investigating the case.
The irate locals have set the excavator on fire after the woman died.
