Water Supply Minister Thapa meets Biplav’s leader in Nakhu Jail

KATHMANDU: Minister for Water Supply and Sanitation Mani Thapa has met a leader of the outlawed Netra Bikram Chand-led Nepal Communist Party Hemant Prakash Oli ‘Sudarshan’.

According to his personal secretary Rajendra Gautam, Minister Thapa reached Nakhu Jail Tuesday morning and met Oli.

According to Gautam, Minister Thapa had reached Nakhu to monitor drinking water and a meeting was held between them on the occasion.

Minister Thapa was welcomed in the jail by leader Oli. “The minister met leader Oli while he was on his way to Nakhu Jail this morning to inquire about the drinking water situation in jail,” Gautam said.

Minister Thapa had a brief conversation with Oli. “We talked for a while, especially about the drinking water situation in the jail,” Gautam added.

Minister for Drinking Water Thapa has been active in holding talks between the government and the group.

Minister Thapa and leader Oli are both former Maoists. Thapa has recently left with Prachanda and joined the Oli group to become a minister.

He was arrested from Kavre in the third week of March on the charge of being involved in the blast in front of Ncell’s headquarters in Nakhu.

The district court in Lalitpur had remanded him in custody for trial on April 22 and, he was sent to Nakhu prison.
