Supreme Court judges at discussion again

KATHMANDU: Supreme Court (SC) Judges who have been boycotting the bench for eight days demanding judicial reform and resignation of Chief Justice Cholendra Shumsher Rana are engaged again in internal discussions on Monday.

According to sources, the apex court judges are discussing on the clues the they received from the team they had formed to hold talks with Chief Justice Rana on Sunday.

Earlier on Sunday, the chief justice had, reportedly, wished for a graceful exit.

Accordingly, the SC judges had sent three judges for talks after the chief justice sent a proposal for a graceful exit after Sunday’s tea-break. Justices Anil Kumar Sinha, Sapna Pradhan Malla and Manoj Kumar Sharma were assigned the task of discussing the path of graceful exit sought by the Chief Justice.

At around 4.30 pm on Sunday, the three judges met with the Chief Justice and discussed his wishes and aspirations. They had held discussion with Chief Justice Rana for about an hour.

The judges are engaged in internal discussions to form an opinion on the subject of Sunday’s discussion, the statement of the Chief Justice and the strategies ahead.

Based on Sunday’s talk, Chief Justice Rana has assigned hearing on the habeas corpus cases on Monday.
