BIRATNAGAR: Chief Minister of Pradesh 1 Bhim Acharya is taking a vote of confidence today.
Even though Chief Minister of Pradesh 1 was scheduled to take the vote of confidence one week ago, the process had been stalled after Nepali Congress filed an application at the parliament secretariat demanding its adjournment.
Acharya who took charge as the Chief Minister on August 27, was supposed to take the vote of confidence on October 12, Speaker Pradip Kumar Bhandari had adjourned the provincial meeting for October 22.
The opposition alliance has decided to pick Rajendra Rai, the leader of CPN (Unified Socialist), as the Chief Minister of Pradesh 1.
In the 92-member Provincial Assembly of Pradesh 1, CPN-UML has 41 members, the opposition alliance has 50. A total of 47 lawmakers are required to securer the vote of confidence.
A joint meeting of NC, Maoist Center, Unified Socialist, Janata Samajwadi Party and Federal Democratic National Forum on Sunday decided to vote against the Chief Minister Acharya.
