KATHMANDU: Supreme Court (SC) is issuing a final verdict on a writ petition filed against former prime minister duo Madhav Kumar Nepal and Dr Baburam Bhattarai in Lalita Niwas land case today.

A joint bench of Justice Cholendra Shumsher Rana and Justice Nahakul Subedi will issue the verdict on the writ petition today, informed the Supreme Court.

The case had been heard on October 4 and the date had been fixed for today to issue the final verdict.

However, it is not very certain whether the verdict will be issued today or not due to the current judicial row.

Senior Advocate Bal Krishna Neupane had filed the writ petition stating that the Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) did not file the case against Nepal and Bhattarai in Lalita Niwas land case.

The case filed by Advocate Neupane on February 12, 2020 had not moved forward following a prerogative right granted by the Supreme Court.

The CIAA had on February 5, 2020 had filed a case against 175 people at the Special Court for their roles in transferring 136-ropani land of Lalita Niwas land in the name of virious individuals.
