PM Deuba extends best wishes to senior citizens



KATHMANDU: Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba has extended best wishes to all senior citizens on the occasion of the International Day of Older Persons today.

In a message of best wishes today, PM Deuba said older persons have experience and maturity. The government is positive to create favourable atmosphere for such experienced persons to transfer their knowledge and skills to the new generation so that it would contribute to socio-economic transformation and development.

The global theme of the Day for this year is ‘Digital Equity for All Ages’. The PM also urged the organizations working for the rights of senior citizens to ensure digital facilities to the senior ones.

He expressed commitment that in addition to respect and security, health insurance and social security allowance to the older persons, the government was for increasing the facilities to them along with construction of senior citizen’s health centres in all seven provinces.

PM Deuba urged all concerned to give priority to the senior people in receiving health facilities in the wake of the COVID-19 menace.
