23 roads obstructed in two days



KATHMANDU: Twenty-three roads across the country have been obstructed in two days following the torrential rains. The incessant rainfall has triggered floods and landslides bringing the roads to a close for traffic.

Fourteen roads are completely disrupted while 49 others are operated for one-way traffic. Along the east-west highway, the landslide obstructed the road at Thumsi and Pitauji while the Dumre-Besishahar-Chame road has been damaged with landslide.

Deputy Director General at Department of Road, Bhimarjun Adhikari, informed that Sattighat-Karnali Bridge area was obstructed along the postal highway. Other road sections obstructed by the landslips are Thori-Bharatpur-Muglin; Ambukhaireni-Gorkha-Ghyampesal; and Arughat-Sirdibas-Roila.

However, the national roadways obstructed at several places have been opened for one-way transportation. The Araniko highway obstructed at Kodari is yet to be opened, according to the Department.
