16 ordinances presented at NA meeting



KATHMANDU: The National Assembly (NA) meeting witnessed the presentation of 16 ordinances on Thursday.

On the first day of the eighth session of NA, Minister of Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs, Lilanath Shrestha, presented the ordinance on first amendment of Constitutional Council (Function, Responsibility, Rights and Work Procedure), 2020, and ordinance relating to oath-taking, 2021. They were presented on behalf of the Prime Minister.

Similarly, the Minister presented the ordinances on third amendment of Commission for Investigation of Enforced Disappeared Persons, Truth and Reconciliation, 2020; ordinance on amending some Acts on Criminal Office and Procedure, 2021; and ordinance on amending some Acts against Sexual Violence, 2021.

Moreover, on behalf of Deputy Prime Minister Bishnu Poudel, Minister for Physical Infrastructures and Transport, Basant Kumar Nembang, tabled the ordinances relating to first amendment on Nepal Citizenship, 2021; on Nepal Police and Province Police (Operation, Supervision and Coordination), 2021; on Social Security, 2021; Acid and Chemical Substance Regulation, 2021; Economic Ordinance, 2021; Appropriation Ordinance, 2021: and State Debt Recovery Ordinance, 2021.

Likewise, Minister Nembang presented Railway Ordinance, 2021; while Minister for Health and Population Krishna Gopal Shrestha presented Safety of Health Workers and Health Institutions (first amendment), 2021; COVID-19 Crisis Management Ordinance, 2021 and Drug (third amendment), 2021.

Earlier, NA Chair Ganesh Prasad Timilsina read out the letter from President Bhandari on the call of NA session. He also informed the NA of the President’s letter on Cabinet reshuffle and additional portfolios.
