Landslide washes away moving ambulance, patient dies



KATHMANDU: A landslide fell over a moving ambulance, killing the patient inside the ambulance in Madi Rural Municipality of Kaski district.

The deceased has been identified as Goma Adhikari, 83, of Mungrebesi, Madi Rural Municipality-9.

Ambulance driver Subash Adhikari was injured in the accident that took place along the Mid-hill Highway, said Madi Rural Municipality Chairman Bed Bahadur Gurung. “A rivulet was flooded all of a sudden carrying thick load of mudship which swept away the ambulance. The driver saved himself by escaping. The elderly died on the spot.”

The injured was taken to Pokhara for treatment. The landslide displaced the ambulance about 100 meters down.
