KATHMANDU: A group of biomedical engineers in the country have come together and launched the ‘Health Equipment Facilitation Campaign’ to play their part in prevention and control of COVID-19 pandemic.

The group of volunteer biomedical engineers spearheaded the campaign under the coordination of the main opposition, Nepali Congress (NC) so as to provide solutions to the technical issues in the health equipment and tools being used by the health centers and COVID-19 patients in home isolation.

NC Spokesperson Biswa Prakash Sharma shared that the biomedical engineers will virtually train those who need to learn to fix the health tools in case they malfunction. NC’s well-wisher organization Centre for Democratic Engineers Nepal (CDEN) started the campaign which will be managed by a group of biomedical engineers throughout the country, said spokesperson Sharma.

Those health institutions, hospitals, COVID-19 patients or the families of COVID-19 patients could contact the central responsive team for the maintenance and repair of the tools used for treating the COVID-19 patients.

Engineer Dipesh Bista could be reached at 9851076030. Likewise, CDEN President Engineer Umesh Prasad Thani’s phone number is 9851089448. Service-seekers could call the central response team’s coordinator Hariram Dawadi at 9851065208. They will help facilitate the service-seekers coordinating with biomedical engineers in all seven provinces, the NC said.
