Elections will decide majority and minority, not streets: PM Oli

KATHMANDU: Prime Minister KP Oli has said that elections will decide on the majority and minority in the ruling Nepal Communist Party (NCP).

The Prime Minister said so referring to the Prachanda-Nepal faction while addressing a virtual program jointly organized by Pravasi Nepali Ekta Manch on the occasion of the English New Year.

The ruling party has split into Oli and Prachanda-Madhav factions after PM Oli dissolved the Parliament and announced mid-term elections.

The Prachanda-Madhav group has claimed the authority of the NCP, saying that it has a majority.

“They are shouting in streets saying that they have a majority. It will not be decided now, it will be decided only after the election,” PM Oli said.

He said that the majority announced from the streets by deserting the party’s meeting would not make sense.

“If they have a majority, they should come to the parliamentary process and party meeting,” he said.

He claimed that the dissolution of the House of Representatives was in accordance with the constitution and would not be reinstated under any circumstances.

He also accused that the Prachanda-Nepal group captured the party office and took out the money from the party’s bank account.
