KATHMANDU: Normal life has been affected in the Kathmandu Valley as the temperature went down to 1.2 degree Celsius on Friday morning.

The minimum temperature was recorded 0.8 degree yesterday. This is the lowest temperature of the year in the Valley.

According to Shanti Kandel, a meteorologist at the Meteorological Forecasting Division (MFD), the temperature is likely to go down further until 8 am today.

The weather will remain partly to generally cloudy for some days in the country as a result of which the temperature is not likely to go down, said Kandel.

The westerly wind which is going to be active from Friday night will cause snowfall in the high mountainous region and rain in Lumbini Pradesh on Saturday.

Similarly, rain is forecast in few parts of the mountainous region on Sunday, which will increase cold across the country.
