Prachanda suggests PM Oli to summon Secretariat meeting

KATHMANDU: Nepal Communist Party (NCP) Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal Prachanda has suggested another Chairman and PM KP Oli summon a Secretariat meeting of the party to settle the contentious issues.

According to the sources close to Chairman Prachanda, he sought PM Oli’s opinion on the issues like the no-confidence motion against Karnali Province Chief Minister, ‘mysterious’ meeting with RAW Chief, Mukesh Chaurasiya’s murder in the intra-party clash in Parsa and the government plan for the effective measures to curb the wide-spreading coronavirus pandemic.

Prachanda had been to Oli’s Baluwatar-based residence at around 1 pm today and held the meeting for about two hours.

The source stated that Oli did not say anything about the issues specifically, yet nodded affirmatively at Prachanda’s proposal to call for the Secretariat meeting at the earliest and resolve the issues.

The relationship between the Chairmen duo turned bitter after PM Oli started making decisions ‘unilaterally’.

Saturday’s meeting has broken the ice blocking the discussions between the party Chairmen and opened the floor for discussion again.
