COVID-19 infected in Birgunj treated with plasma therapy

KATHMANDU: COVID-19 infected person in Birgunj has been treated with plasma therapy.

A 35-year-old man from Sunderpur of Chakraghatta Gaonpalika-3 of Sarlahi is being treated with plasma therapy method.

Dr. Uday Narayan Singh informed that he was given plasma of an infected person on Sunday night while undergoing treatment at Narayani Hospital.

He was given plasma by Damodar Adhikari, store chief of Narayani Hospital.

The infected person was admitted to the ICU of Narayani Hospital with the support of CPAP.

He was admitted to the hospital on August 19 with fever for 7 days, cough for 5 days and respiratory problems for 2 days.

The corona infection was confirmed on August 4 during his PCR test due to the symptoms of COVID-19.

Dr. Singh said that there was a problem in the patient’s blood. “We have given plasma at night, we are seeing an improvement in his health,” he said. “We have also used blood thinners,” he added.

According to doctors, DIC is considered a complex blood problem. As the blood is thick, the blood flow in the small blood vessels of the body may be stopped.
