Nepal’s coronavirus death count jumps to 55 after three die in Birgunj



KATHMANDU:  Three more people have died from coronavirus in Birgunj, taking the COVID-19 death tally to 55 in Nepal.

According to Dr Madan Upadhyaya, the medical superintendent at Narayani Hospital, three men aged 35, 56 and 65 died on Thursday  evening.

It is, however, yet to be announced officially by the Ministry of Health and Population.

The two deceased are from Nagawa and Chapkaiya of Birgunj Sub metropolitan City while the other is from India.

The  Indian national is learnt to have been the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Jagadamba Enterprises based in Birgunj Metropolitan City.

He was a cardiac patient and had been admitted to the hospital on July 21 after being diagnosed with the coronavirus.

The other two patients were confirmed to have died from the coronavirus after their swab test results came out positive posthumously.

“The 35-year-old man died in the course of treatment at Gandak Coronavirus Hospital while 65-year-old died in his own house,” said Upadhyaya.
