TANAHUN: Six vulnerable families of Tanahun’s Rishing rural municipality-8, Bhaisikile have been shifted to secured place.

The rural municipality is also making arrangements for safer settlement of the families surviving vulnerable life following the July 13 landslide buried to death five members of a family.

Bijay Darai, Spokesperson of the rural municipality said a six-ana land was also purchased to shift the vulnerable settlement to the safer area.

Even though the rural municipality has purchased the land, the concerned families have to construct their residence themselves, Darai said.

Five members of Amba Bahadur Thapa’s family, including his two sons and daughter-in-laws and a granddaughter were buried to death in the 13 July landslide.

Following the incident, remaining Thapa family members have been taking shelter at the neighbor’s house.

Meanwhile, the Bandipur rural municipality has provided relief assistance to two families of Bandipur-1 whose houses were also demolished in the 21 July landslide.

Bandipur rural municipality chair Purna Singh Thapa handed over a relief amount of Rs 30,000 to Manju Adhikari and Arjun Adhikari as per the rural municipality’s decision.

On the same occasion, the relief materials received from Red Cross Society were also distributed to the indigent people. “A preliminary data reveals the landslide has rendered 20 households displaced”, Bandipur chair Thapa informed.

The landslide has partially damaged 20 houses in Bandipur. The displaced family members are taking shelters at neighbour’s house and community building.
