Parliament meeting today, statute amendment bill on business schedule

KATHMANDU: The government is preparing to present the constitution amendment proposal registered in the House of Representatives on Sunday.

The constitution amendment bill is likely to be presented as it has been mentioned that the proposed amendment to the constitution will be presented in the first business of the parliament today.

Earlier, it was said that the proposed amendment to the constitution would be tabled on Wednesday, but was removed from the business at the last minute as the main opposition party Nepali Congress (NC) was undecided.

A Central Working Committee of the party on late Saturday night had decided to vote in favor of amending the constitution.

After the amendment proposal is presented in the meeting called for 11 am, the discussion on the budget for the coming Fiscal Year 2020/21 will start.

The government had registered a bill for the amendment of the constitution at the Federal Parliament’s Secretariat last Friday.

As a next move after the publication of the complete map including Limpiyadhura, Lipu Lekh and Kalapani, the government has formally registered a bill for the amendment of the constitution so as to amend Appendix 3 of the constitution.

The amendment in the constitution will make room for the change in the map used in the national emblem.
