Increase in internet bandwidth by 25% amid lockdown

The use of internet bandwidth has increased by 25% in recent days due to the nationwide lockdown. The lockdown has forced people to work from home and children are also using the internet for entertainment and educational purposes.

The increase in bandwidth of the internet will cost more to internet service providers. The use of the internet is unlimited for customers but internet service providers have to pay more according to the use of their network.

Govt extends ban on international flights until April 15

The high-level coordination committee on the prevention and containment of COVID-19 has decided to extend the ban on international flights until April 15.

A meeting of the committee held today decided this effect to prevent the spread of novel coronavirus in the country.

China handovers medical aid to Nepal

Chinese Ambassador to Nepal, Hou Yanqi, on Sunday handed over medical supplies to Minister for Health and Population Bhanu Bhakta Dhakal.

China donated a total of 2.5 tons of medical aid to Nepal that arrived on Sunday morning. A Nepal Airlines plane brought medical aid from China. Minister Dhakal said that the government the medical support materials will be distributed to hospitals throughout the country.

Rasuwagadhi and Tatopani borders yet to come online

Tatopani and Rasuwagadhi, the mainland routes for trade with China, are yet to come into operation despite the decision by both the countries to bring these border points online.

According to the Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Supplies, the government has come up with the decision citing the reduced cases of infected people in China and possible shortage that could hit Nepal in the aftermath of the government imposing the nationwide lockdown.
