Former President Bhandari calls for adhering to integrity shown by political luminaries

KATHMANDU: Former President Bidya Devi Bhandari has said it is necessary for the society to embrace philosophy demonstrated and promoted by the political luminaries so as to strengthen democratic norms and values, integrity, good governance and accountability to the public.

Addressing a programme organised by the Tulsilal Memorial Foundation to mark the 29th Memorial Day of the Tulsilal Amatya in Lalitpur today, the former Head of State recalled Amatya’s lifelong dedication and sacrifices to philosophy, principles and to the civic service.

She expressed her hope that Amatya’s sacrifices, integrity and involvement in public service will be a source of inspiration to the present and future generations.

The Former President also expressed her concern over the unrests surfaced in some districts of the eastern Tarai, including Sunsari, calling everyone to exercise restraint so that unity, mutual respect, tolerance, and social harmony among diversity would be maintained. She also reminded that Nepal is a multi-ethnic, multilingual, multi-religious, and multicultural nation.

Foundation’s founding chair and Nepali Communist Party (NCP) joint coordinator Madhav Kumar Nepal and politician and cooperative movement leader Keshab Prasad Badal were honoured on the occasion.
